Family Bushcraft Day – Tuesday 19th April
Join the Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team and master the essentials of creating, maintaining and cooking with fire. This course has been developed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to create fire using historical techniques and natural materials.
You will learn:
The importance of respecting fire and consider its social and cultural significance over time
How to select and collect suitable combustible materials
How to create fire by spark and friction
How to construct and maintain a fire
How to transport fire
Methods of using natural materials to heat water and cook food
And much more…
During your time with us you will enjoy the beauty and tranquilly of our 40 acre ancient woodland where you will use a variety of methods, techniques and hacks to create and maintain fire in differing weather conditions.
All of our courses and outdoor activities are covid safe. Equipment is provided and light refreshments are included. Further details will be sent 3 days prior the start date.

Duration: 0900-1500
Course size: up to 20
Course age restrictions: 18+ or 6+ if accompanied and supervised by a full paying adult.
Cost: £20 a head or £60 for a family up to 4 people. NOTE – we are running this at cost price

What to wear/bring:
Suitable clothing is recommended. Please remember that our dedicated site is an ancient woodland and as such, during the warmer months we advise you wear a long sleeved top and full bottoms due to the presence of ticks. Sensible footwear is also advised.
Please bring your own food -something to cook on a fire
These sessions are for parent(s) / carers and their children. We would suggest the minimum age of children should be 6 years old. Please can you make sure you only bring enough children whom you can directly supervise/ work with as our instructors will be there to instruct the family groups rather than supervise the children (this keeps our prices down and makes this more affordable!).
