Wobble Gravelcross

Cannimore Cycles and the Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team are proud to sponsor the Warminster Wobble.

The wobble Gravelcross  is a 30 mile challenge course that takes in a number of gravel roads, bridleways and single track around the town of Warminster, it is suitable for Mountain-bikes, Gravel Bikes, Cyclocross, Fat Bikes, Plus Bikes and E mountain bikes, unfortunately it is not a course suitable for road bikes or town bikes

The course starts and finishes in the town park of Warminster and will take the riders via Southleigh Woods and onto the Great Ridge, it is a course with challenging climbs, fast gravel roads and some tricky descents. It is entirely self supported so there are no marshals, or route signs, riders are responsible for navigating the course using a GPX file. It is an Individual Time Trial against the clock or against yourself, riders will be set off at 15 second intervals to ensure a smooth passage through the park and then it’s onto the course. At the end of the event there will be a podium celebration where prizes for the top 3 finishers will be given out

Saturday 15th June

Individuals will be set off at 15 second intervals from 1100.  Your personal set off time will be emailed to you along with the route GPX file one week before the event

This event is open to all aged 16 and above who have the ability / fitness to cover 30 miles and the map reading skills to follow a GPX file!

Each rider will need a bike that is suitable and safe for riding the route.  Each rider will have received the GPX file that they will need to move to a GPS device / phone or print onto a route map.

All riders must wear a bike helmet and carry basic bike repair kit, drink and a method of contacting for help if needed (e.g. a phone!)

Other info:

Please note – this is a self supported event.  You will be responsible for yourself on this activity and therefore should have the correct kit and personal ability to participate.  Please see ‘self supported uk’ for details on the philosophy behind such events.  The rules for this event are as follows:

Generic Rule-set

For a ride to satisfy the self-supported philosophy, it must comply with the rule-set listed below, and for the development of new routes a rule-set must be based around these key elements. Any other details related to the route or specific rules are up to the vision of the route director, normally the first person to step up and time-trial the route.

  1. Complete the entire route, under your own power  – no drafting
  2. Be completely self-supported throughout the ride – absolutely no support crews, absolutely no gear sharing
  3. Only use commercial services that are available to all challengers – no private resupply, no private lodging
  4. If you have to leave the route, you must re-join it at the exactly same spot
  5. No caches of any kind
  6. No pre-arranged support, which means before you begin your ride – e.g. booking a B&B, arranging to meet a vehicle
  7. No travel by any motorised means during your ride – by all means do so if necessary, but understand if you do your attempt is over
